Differences in Facilities since 2022

This dashboard illustrates the locations of various types of child care providers - Licensed Centers, Licensed Family Homes, Licensed Group Homes, and Registered Homes - across Doña Ana County, including the school districts of Hatch, Las Cruces, and Gadsden. The stars on the map represent the providers, with color coding indicating changes in the status and location of these facilities between 2022 and 2023. The data reveals that 96 child care facilities closed during this period, resulting in 45 fewer facilities and 514 fewer available slots. Users can apply filters to view specific types of providers and their current status. 

Difference in capacity since 2022 

The first graph displays the difference in the number of child care facilities in 2023 compared to 2022 across different school districts, sorted in descending order based on the number of providers. The black text shows the number of providers in 2023, while the red text shows the number of providers in 2022. The data indicates a decrease in the number of providers across all districts. 

The second graph illustrates the difference in the number of available slots in 2023 compared to 2022, categorized by school district and facility type (Licensed Center, Licensed Family Home, Licensed Group Home, Registered Home). Green bars represent an increase in slots, while red bars represent a decrease. The absence of bars indicates no change between the years. The data shows that Licensed Centers in the Las Cruces Public School District experienced the largest decline in available slots, while Gadsden saw the largest increase in Licensed Centers. Hatch experienced either no change or a decline in all facility types.

Provider Capacity in 2023 

The graph displays the percentage of child care slots used by subsidies in June 2023, broken down by school district in Doña Ana County. Hatch has the highest percentage, with 51% of its slots filled by subsidies. The accompanying map, similar to the one on the 'Differences in Facilities Since 2022' page, shows the school districts within the county and the types of child care facilities. However, in this map, the colors of the stars represent the percentage of slots utilized through subsidies.
